The trail wove through the forest starting out, and at times, opening up for stunning mountain views. Above is a picture taken of a super picturesque pond, its surface mirroring the expansive blue sky. Under our guide’s watchful eye, we all felt a sense of freedom and connection with both our equine companions and the truly beautiful nature environment. The kids, in particular, were enamored with the horses, having formed a bond on our adventure. After an hour of riding, with hearts full and spirits high, we all were reluctant to dismount.

As the stars began to twinkle overhead, we finished our day with the tried and true combination of campfire and s’mores. The creek and rock wall provided a beautiful backdrop and the gentle hum of the creek, combined with the crackle of the campfire, added the perfect soundtrack. The kids were amazed at the stars shining so brightly, as can only happen with the lack of city lights. Buffalo Creek offered us more than just a vacation, more than just a break from the daily grind; it gave us memories to cherish, and experiences the kids will never forget.

We will be back again to stay and will follow more recommendations from Rock River Experiences, and to visit Natural Bridge (pictured below). On top of that, we will of course be riding again and looking forward to staying in the same rental or joining with 1-2 other families and staying at their Mountain Lodge, or maybe with an even larger group of families, rent the Buffalo Bungalow again and its neighbor next door the 10 bedroom Buffalo Creek Retreat and have an even grander celebration. We can’t wait to come back!
